Royal Canadian Legion Branch 245 invites members and the public to attend our Remembrance Day Service. It honours our Veterans that have served as well as those that continue to protect our country and freedom. The service will take place at the Merrickville Cenotaph on Monday Nov.11 at 11am. Following the service everyone is invited back to the Legion for a Potluck lunch. Please bring something to share if you can.

All Legion members, the Mayor, Merrickville Firefighters, Cubs, Beavers with Leaders, Guides/Brownies/Sparks with Leaders are asked to meet at the Legion for 10:15 am to Parade to the Cenotaph.

This year we are commemorating Canada’s mission in Afghanistan by honouring the efforts of our Veterans and active Military who served. We are asking for all Afghanistan Vets and on ground support staff to kindly attend if possible. We are adding a plaque to commemorate the mission in Afghanistan. From 2001 to 2014, the war in Afghanistan was Canada’s first significant combat engagement since the Korean War, and the longest war in our history.

The Merrickville Legion would like to acknowledge and thank all the individuals, and all the businesses in Merrickville-Wolford for their continued support in the Poppy campaign. Should anyone want to purchase a wreath in Remembrance please contact the Legion before Remembrance Day.

Please support and never forget Canada’s Legacy of Service down through the years and across the globe.

To all of those that have served in the past, present, and in the future we say THANK-YOU.

We will remember them. “
